AI Agent for Restaurant Table Reservation

Project Overview

We built an AI-powered WhatsApp reservation assistant that helps customers book a table at the restaurant without calling or waiting for a human reply.

Customers simply send a message on WhatsApp, and the AI agent handles the full conversation — from greeting to confirming the booking.

What the AI Agent Can Do

1. Natural Chat on WhatsApp

  • Customer messages like:

    • “Tonight 8PM 4 jon er table lagbe”

    • “Do you have any table for 2 tomorrow?”

  • The AI understands:

    • Date & time

    • Number of guests

    • Any special notes (birthday, anniversary, etc.)

2. Availability Check & Time Suggestions

  • The agent checks available slots from:

    • Google Sheets / Restaurant booking sheet / Database.

  • If the requested time is available:

    • Confirms the booking instantly.

  • If not available:

    • Suggests alternative times (e.g. “7:30 PM or 9:00 PM available, which one do you prefer?”).

3. Booking Confirmation & Record Saving
Once the customer agrees, the workflow:

  • Saves the reservation details:

    • Name

    • Phone number (from WhatsApp)

    • Date & time

    • Number of guests

    • Notes (if any)

  • Stores it in Google Sheets / internal system.

  • Sends a WhatsApp confirmation message, for example:

    “Your table is booked for 4 people at 8:00 PM tonight. Thank you!”

Optionally, it can also:

  • Send an email notification to the restaurant manager.

  • Add the booking to a calendar (Google Calendar, etc.).

4. FAQ & Basic Info Automation

The same AI agent can also answer common questions like:

  • Restaurant location & Google Maps link

  • Opening & closing time

  • Menu link

  • Special offers

  • Parking or family seating info

So staff don’t have to reply manually to every basic query.
